I've had a go at doing this (no laughing please ) - I've boosted the saturation a bit (hopefully not too much) and played with rotating the canvas. I'm not sure I've done this right though...
See what you think:
The original:
Rotated plus 45 degrees:
Finally rotated minus 45 degrees:

Dave P. | Hey would you believe it, I own and use one and have for a couple of months, and I genuinely didn't know. I thought it was a brand I hadn't come across before. Why are people calling it that, it says on the box Sigma 50-500 apo ex dg?
Weird!!!!! |

Weird!!!!! | Two reasons I can think of - the fact it zooms from 50mm to 500mm, but in my opinion it's because it's a bit of a hefty monster (well, to my scrawny little arms it is - weighs a ton!).

Thea | Hi Thea,
The plus 45 degree rotation is quite effective.
Nice pic too.

Weird!!!!! | Most of the Sigma lenses end up with these names, I imagine they originated from some web site, once used they tend to stick. |

tothers in common usage are: little bigma (170-500, so called cos it is the cheaper but arguably less capable alternative to the bigma - aka the "coffee grinder" on account of the noise it makes when foccusing) Ossie ( 80-400 OS when it was named that it was the only OS lens in their line up - now that there are others this will probably fall out of usage)
and Sigmonster (300-800 - the size and weight of this one speak for themselves - its like holding a glass traffic cone)
although not a sigma the other commonly nicknamed lens is the Pump (Canon 100-400 IS so called because the zoom control slides in and out like a bike pump rather than rotating like virtually every other zoom.)
