| | | Getting to Grips with Sigma 170-500mm lens Here are some shots that I took today with the Sigma 170-500mm lens all taken in the garden on a tripod. The camera was on A1servo all the time its a Canon 400D
The images of the female Blackbird were taken on ISO 200 at 120sec@f8 with the lens at 400mm they were taken as a raw image and converted in Photoshop CS2
The images of the Chaffinch settings as above except taken at 1/250 sec@f8,,,this chap was ever so obliging sat on the fence about 10 feet away and posed for its pics ,I dont know if it could get any more in its beak.

You must be really pleased with the lens if it is capable of such detail. The Chaffinch shots are particularly nice and sharp. Well done

| | | Re: Getting to Grips with Sigma 170-500mm lens Nice shots Bill, you have soon got to grips - well done.
For the sake of other people just starting with longer lenses I think it is perhaps worthwhile to mention that there is no substiture for keeping that lens as still as possible. It is an obvious yet frequently forgotten point.

| | | Re: Getting to Grips with Sigma 170-500mm lens Really nice shots Bill . I use a 170 - 500 on my 20D and think it's a great lens.
