| | | insurance advice i thought i would put this on a separate thread but regarding something i am thinking about undertaking,i realise that many people on here have some very expensive equipment and was wondering what measures they have in place regarding insurance against accidental damage,i assume it is not wise to leave this on your house insurance .
i have looked around for some info and it seems difficult to find anything specific
as they appear to concentrate on house or car insurance,so if anyone could point me in the right direction or offer their own experiences on the subject i would ,as always ,be extremely grateful
thanks

| | | Re: insurance advice Nothing wrong with having it on your household insurance, provided it's clear what you want.
Mine is covered that way. The cover is itemised as a camera kit, it's important you do this so they don't think it's just one lump! It's full cover for accidental damage, theft, including from the car. The only part they insist on is that the car must be locked and the gear out of sight.
I've got cover for up to £5,000, it costs and extra £51 per year.
I do know that not all insurance companies will do this type of cover, it's one of the reasons I chose the company I use. |

| | | Re: insurance advice We are also covered on the household insurance although when we upgrade later in the year we are going with a camera specialist insurance. They often have fliers in the magazines the one we were looking at was about £40 a year and would cover both of our equipment from acidental damage as well as theft and loss. |

| | | Re: insurance advice I ue a specialist insurance for my photo gear, the firm that insures my house and contents couldn't offer me the same level of cover for anywhere near the price that the specialist firm could.
I have PM'ed you the link to the specialist firm concerned. |

I have PM'ed you the link to the specialist firm concerned. | If it's cheaper than £50 per year, I'd be interested in that as well Steve. |

| | | Re: insurance advice The other advantage of independant cover is that should it be necessary to claim, your household cover would not suffer from the inevitable loading of the premium in subsequent years.

| | | Re: insurance advice Hi
if it's the one that usually have the flyers in the photo mags read the small print carefully (on the net). The last time I read it they had so many get-out clauses I decided it wasn't worth the risk.Mine is currently on the house Ins.

| | | Re: insurance advice Having had a look around the web, the average price for £5,000 worth of equipment seems to be between £100 to £180.
I'll stick to my household £51 I think. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
