first kingfisher!

Hi folks, thought i share my first ever kingfisher with you all! was walking in my local park, (the linn park on the southside of glasgow) and i saw a kingfisher. ive seen it before but only briefly, its so fast ive only ever seen it as its flying away from me!

but today was different, i was armed with my new fz18! so a watched as he flew away down the river, then settled on a branch overhanging the river. it was nice and sunny so i went down as near to the branch as i could get (it was on the opposite bank) and sat down and waited for him, or her, to come back. For 20 minutes he raced up and down the river past me, far to fast for me to catch him in flight at this stage in my photographic career! But then he eventually sat down and i got him, just! i was soooo excited, having only ever seen the blue streak dissapearing out of site, there he was, 15ft in front of me!!!!!! can u tell im still excited??

Congratulations Dunkyg99. I am envious. I have been scouring the Essex riverbanks for a Kingfisher now for six months and have not even glimsed one.
I am out with the camera every other weekend but still nothing. Well done

I have some kingfisher shots but nothing like as good as Jeff's.

I went out looking for a kingfisher on Sunday where I have seen one before on several occasions - I ended up with a pair of Egyptian Geese instead.

Like you, my recent sightings have been of the swiftest metallic blue arrow whizzing from a bow - shows my age.
