Thanks for the replies!
Without having read the Two Day thing, impatience won at 1am - and the camera was back to normal I'm pleased to say! The thing is, the pictures I DID take I don't think were even worth the possible damage  !
I travelled to a Nature Reserve this morning to test it - and was surprised to see moorhens AND coots together without fighting. I also saw a diving pair of Little Grebes - a first for me. They were too far off to get a good enough photo though. There were also tufted ducks, canada geese - and a lone Embden Goose.
I will post the latest pics ASAP, but will allow it more time to dry out.
