| | | More early Sigma 50-500 shots Had a little more practice with my new toy, thought I would share. Constructive criticism always welcome. All taken in my garden, through double glazing (apart from the sparrowhawk - thats through a dirty back window - best I could get)
with a Nikon D50 and a Sigma 50-500 on a tripod at ISO 400.
Male Siskin
Sweet little blue tit
Magpie (liked the colours but blown the shoulder highlights)
Sparrowhawk with dinner (unlucky starling) - difficult shot to get as he was in darkest part of garden
Lovely Long Tailed Tit
Great Tit - a little soft but best I've managed so far for these
Hope you like, I still have lots to learn and when I actually get out in the wild with my lense I'm going to be confused by the lack of windows to shoot through!

| | | Re: More early Sigma 50-500 shots Ha I know what you mean on the windows! With all the poor weather there's not been much chance to get out much. Great set of shots, especially considering it's only your second outing with your new toy. I bet you're chuffed. Look forward to seeing some more when you do get out and about! Particularly like the Siskin (because I haven't seen too many round here recently) and the Sparrowhawk (likewise). Keep 'em coming! |

| | | Re: More early Sigma 50-500 shots Sorry, you don't need any advice. These are excellent. I also like the Siskin, but there's nothing much wrong with any of them! |

| | | Re: More early Sigma 50-500 shots Some very nice shots there Toby especially as they are taken through glass.
The Siskin is a beauty, The Magpie as you say has the shoulder highlights blown a touch but I find these are always difficult birds to get right being mainly black and white.
The Great Tit white cheek patch is slightly over exposed as well but that's pretty easy to cure next time just by adding a little - exposure compensation.
All in all a very good set of photos considering the short time you have had the lens and shooting through glass.

| | | Re: More early Sigma 50-500 shots Looks like you are getting on well with the Bigma Toby.
I'd say that you are well on the way to having it mastered. |

| | | Re: More early Sigma 50-500 shots Very good captures, look forward to seeing some more shots without the softening effect of the extra glass. Have you tried shooting from an open window, get some of my best squirrel shots from an upstairs open window.

| | | Re: More early Sigma 50-500 shots These images are fine Toby. Just wait until you get out in the open with it.
My only advice would be to carry on doing what you already are

| | | Re: More early Sigma 50-500 shots nice shots Toby. Some look a touch soft but that is almost certainly due to the double glazing. I don't think you'll get the best from the lens until you open the window
