| | | Holiday advise Well the day is finally approaching and tomorrow Tuesday we begin our journey to Tanzania (returning 27th march) to begin our safari holiday. This is a lifetimes dream for me! I think I'll manage OK but if you have any last minute advise for me I'd be grateful.
My kit.... Sony alpha 100 + kit 18-70mm lens also Tamron 200-500mm , a set of extension tubes, and a X2 converter. 4 batteries, 15 mg flash cards + 100 gb memory store ( yes I intend taking loads of photos!) Arctic butterfly, fibre free cloth, large clear plastic bag x2 ( for changing lens inside in an attempt to stop dust getting in the camera!) Monopod and bean bag oh and bag, rucksack type, to keep it all in!
As I probably will never get to go again I want to make the most of this holiday so any advise suggestions will be very gratefully received.

| | | Re: Holiday advise My advice would be:
Don't always watch the animals through your camera. You miss so much else going on around you. Watch.... watch.... then decide on your picture.
If you don't get much warning, and you have to take a shot quickly then make sure your camera is always ready, breath deeply and fire of loads of shots. Not just one or two.
Sometimes the little things are as interesting as the big. Insects can often get overlooked, but I'm sure there will be some great ones in Tanzania.
Soak it all up. As you say, you might not go again, so ENJOY every single moment. From the cold showers, bumpy landrover rides and the prickly thorns to the beautiful wild animals and the stunning sunsets.
I'm so envious! Have a great time. Jane |

| | | Re: Holiday advise Binoculars, insect repellent, sun screen, hat and remember not to wear anything blue if you are going to a Tsetse fly area.
If you are going to the Ngorongora crater it can get very cold at the top, so take something warm to wear.
Also take a notebook so that you can make a note of everything you see in the order you see it. That will help you identify your photos when you get back. Even if your memory is better than mine, there are hundreds of animals, birds and insects and you will never remember them all!
Have a great time. Looking forward to hearing about it when you get back.

| | | Re: Holiday advise Thanks one and all for your thoughts and reminders.
I almost forgot the binoculars!
I've just about finished the packing and the camera gear weighs the most!
Have a wonderful WABicious Easter and I'll be in touch after we get back.

| | | Re: Holiday advise Just relax and enjoy it, if you need any help ask the guides, they are doing the same thing day after day, although they cant afford the kit that you have, they will have met many who can, and they are very quick to learn. Have a really super time and show us your pics. when you return. Bon voyage, Keith
