| | | Another practise session Managed a bit of time yesterday. After checking through the shots I'm much much happier with the results. OK there's still loads I bin but there are more that are worthwhile keeping. Just selected 3 for now. Hope you think that things are getting better!
I'm finding that the more practise I get the more I remember to check my settings so hopefully by the time I go (18th March) it will be automatic!
Been trying to get oystercatchers for a while they've proved to be rather difficult!

| | | Re: Another practise session Barbara, these are very nice shots! Love the Oystercatchers! Birds in flight are not particularly easy and as for binning most of the shots - don't we all Remember your not using film so it doesn't matter how many shots you take.
What's great about it is you are capturing the beautiful sights you see in nature for ever, getting out in the fresh air and appreciating life. Happy days

Looks like you are certainly getting the hang of it now. Once the light improves enabling a faster shutter speed you should see a significant improvement.

| | | Re: Another practise session Barbara nice pics alot better what was your white balance set at as there seems to be a reddish tinge to all of the pics ? which could be associated with the wrong WB setting DSRLS nowadays the auto WB setting is fine it can cope with most conditions but I think your setup may have been on Cloudy to warm up the pics giving this reddish cast,I may be wrong its just a query but nice pics otherwise well done

| | | Re: Another practise session Defitely getting better Barbara, the Oystercatcher shot was well taken.
I notice the focal distance for these is 500mm @ f6.3, are you using a Bigma to take these?

| | | Re: Another practise session Yes I have tended to leave the white balance on cloudy
I will alter that now that the light is improving.
The lens is a Tamron 200-500mm
Thanks for you thoughts

| | | Re: Another practise session I think you can probably get away with leaving the white balance on auto. That way it'll always be more or less correct, and you don't need to worry about leaving it on cloudy when the sun suddenly comes out and makes all your pictures orange
If you shoot RAW, you can adjust the WB afterwards of course, which is dead handy (and not scary!) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
