Very impressive shots ...
Post processing can be a chore, or fun ... myself, I quite like 'processing' my pics, I enjoy it as much as the photography.
oh, and this 'fella' likes the leaf in the pic, I may have been tempted to emphasise it a little more ... |

| | | Re: Please stop me from throwing my DSLR in the bin! Thanks, Mucks. You have hit the nail on the head. I am reasonably artistic so I know what I want to achieve with a photograph but trying to get the camera to produce it is the difficult bit!
At my advanced years I don't take in information very quickly (and trying to remember it is even more difficult)! I am not one of these people who can read an instruction book from cover to cover. I have to take it in bite-size chunks and thoroughly digest it first. So, my progress is very slow. I learn a new feature and practise it. I just wish I had more time to practise.
I am just starting to get to grips with the camera where flora and fauna are concerned, but I would not have a clue how to take a decent landscape (give me a few more years!).
Yes, I enjoy tweaking my photos and I deliberately bought a camera with the highest number of pixels that I could afford. This gives me plenty of opportunity to crop effectively and still have enough pixels left to print the image if I want to.
Working with RAW gives even more opportunities for getting the image how I want it. So I am a RAW convert. One of the things that has surprised me most is the difference that white balance can make. I don't think I would ever get that right in the camera.
I really appreciate all the help I have received from WAB members. I definitely think I am moving in the right direction.

I too am advancing in years, it's been a long time since I held an SLR and have only recently been enjoying my forced retirement by accompanying my sister on 'our' birding trips.
I'm looking forward to buying my first DSLR next month, hope I can call on you for advice.

| | | Re: Please stop me from throwing my DSLR in the bin! Hi Jenny, have you had any luck with using your noise reduction software?
I use Noiseware Community Edition, there are probably better ones out there, but I think it's quite good. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
