| | | a few more of my shots so far.. Hey
I went back and looked at the exposure bit in the instruction manual. I found out that a bar that appears on side of my screen which i thought was kind of annoying is actually the bar that puts the exposure up or down. I dont know if you have this on your cameras but the fujifilms seem to have it. So i understood how to work with exposure. Then after my mother had come off the phone to my best mate's mother she anounced we where going to the national botanical gardens. So this was a good oppertunity to practise the exposure thing. I think about 80% of the time i spent there i was taking photos. I heard an old woman saying "That boys been taking photos every three steps, hes gonna run out of film soon" If you can imagine and old woman saying that in a swansea valley accent very loudly than im sure you'll slowly slink away like i did...
I hope these images show you that i understand the exposure thing. And if you where wondering why the little waterfall is out of focus, It's an idea i took out of the how to photograph absolutely everything book.
Please tell me what you think.

| | | Re: a few more of my shots so far.. Nice shots, Forevergreen. Looks like you have pretty much worked out the exposure thing. If there is one thing I can add, that would be, draw away from the subject a little. The crops are all very tight and although you have picked out some great detail, the shots are looking a little crowded. Other than that, great, and keep the practice going. It is how the fantastic images are made. .

I'm pleased you've got it. Exposure compensation is a very powerful and useful tool, I use it all the time. It's a quick and easy way to adjust for changing light, such as in flight shots. The Canon 20D and upwards all have a large wheel on the back which you can easily turn to apply negative or positive compensation. It's one of the best features on the camera in my opinion. |

| | | Re: a few more of my shots so far.. Photographing white flowers without overdoing the highlights is the most difficult bit; and you seem to have managed that well. Making adjustments for flying birds is my problem. By the time I have worked out the best setting the bird is just a dot in the distance. |

Agree with what graham has said.
Also you have got the whites of the flowers spot on with the exposure which isnt the easiest.
