| | | First photo This is my first post. It is one of the first photos taken with my new D80 camera. Apologies in advance if I have caused extra work for mod in trying to post this picture.

| | | Re: First photo For your first post that's not at all bad! I like the fact you've not cropped it too tightly, I assume you were a fair distance from the bird?
I've noticed your camera settings, I would have recommended you reduce your ISO from the 1000 you used to a lower setting, perhaps 400 or 800. You had a shutter speed of 1/1600, which if you had used ISO 400 would still have been fast enough to ensure no camera shake. Your image would then have had more detail, as the higher the ISO used, the less detail you get.
Still a nice shot though! |

Yes graham I was and my lens is the 18-135 at the moment. Thanks for your comments and I am trying to gain knowledge in changing settings on the camera. At least my first attempt to post a photo was successfull and does not seem to have caused mayhem.I still cannot retrieve data from pictures in the Gallery like you can so I will still have to work on that.

| | | Re: First photo Hi Vince for the 18-135mm lens that's not a bad photo at all.
To retrieve the data from the photos you need an Exif viewer. There are many of these available for free download that do the job fine.
I use Opanda Exif viewer.
Once you have an Exif viewer installed you just right click on the photo and choose your Exif viewer from the menu that appears. Of course not all photos in the Gallery have the Exif information included.

| | | Re: First photo Thanks Colin, you joined a few weeks before me and I have been following some of your posts. I have also found it a friendly site. At the moment I am trying to put some photos for comment but am struggling a little, never mind I will get there in the end.

Same here; Opanda reads exif data from images on my own hard drive but as yet haven't been able to see any ex- web. Wondering how Graham managed it?
David
P.S. By saving the image to my files I can see it OK of course!

P.S. By saving the image to my files I can see it OK of course! | I've only got Opanda IEXIF installed.
I'm not sure why yours doesn't work but Opanda does work with WAB images. One point to watch out for, if the image is larger than the screen display, make sure you click on the image before trying to view the EXIF info. Then it's simply a right mouse click and select the view EXIF option on the menu.
