| | | Hornets nest I took these pictures of a hornets nest yesterday.
The nest was on the north side of the tree trunk, and there were lots of overhead branches.
I used iso 800 and the on-board camera flash. If I purchased a ring flash could I have got better shots and used iso 100?

did you try it? or was it just a previous setting and grabbed shots due to the
desire not to get too intimate with your subject

| | | Re: Hornets nest I was using a 300mm zoom lens so as not to get too intimate, probably about 4 metres away.
I had the camera set on speed priority 1/200 so as not to get the shakes.
When I tried lower iso the shots were very dark and under exposed.
