You are far too modest. These are super pictures especially given the nature of the subject.
I take my hat off to you.

| | | Re: In flight Kingfisher shots Nice shots Jeff. These birds must be one of the most difficult ones to photograph due to their speed. I would be over the moon with images like these. Congrats

| | | Re: In flight Kingfisher shots Thank you for your comments Colin, Mark, Chris and Brian - you're too kind
Hopefully I shall be able to refine my technique during next year's nesting period and produce some in-flight images worthy of such praise.

| | | Re: In flight Kingfisher shots Jeff your shots of the Kingfisher in flight are eceptional for a fast and flighty bird at times it can be hard to keep focus on normal birds in flight and with the speed of the kingfisher and its size you have done really well and should be proud well done and dont put yourself down

| | | Re: In flight Kingfisher shots Thanks for your encouraging words Bill. It's not that I'm putting myself down, I just know that in the right conditions I should be able to get even better results and I've set myself a target of doing so

As indicated in my post of 2/12/2007 "... it’s been calculated that they typically fly at the rate of about 12 metres per second (David Boag – ‘The Kingfisher’ – 1982)...." which is approx. 43kph or approx. 27mph. However, this is for normal flight and a fishing dive from a high branch (and I've seen them dive for fish from as high as 10 metres) would be much faster.
Hope that helps
Jeff
