I saved the file from the canon software now it opens up in elements.

Amazon is selling Elements 10 at a very good price. Check it out.

From RAW you should save as a Tiff, finish working the tiff in elements/pscs5 then save a jpg for the web. Why worry about file size when hard drives are still not too expensive. Your tiff file is also far better for printing at home.
