| | | Re: Reducing picture size I use Elements 8 and the "save for web" option under File. You can set the size, quality etc and then save them at the size you want for the web.

| | | Re: Reducing picture size I've found how to use "FastStone photo resizer" properly.
It works a treat and keeps the original sRGB intact at the res of 300ppi or whatever you chose.
Glad I ain't using a dongle. |

| | | Re: Reducing picture size Great info.
I'd like to ask: If I convert a raw file from my camera and then take it to P.S Elements for editing will that significantly reduce the editing options? I haven't got round to checking for updates or patches in Elements yet but, as it stands, it doesn't accept the raw files from my Olympus E 520 (orf. format) and I've been converting them to Tif. files using the Olympus Master program. But I like Elements and can't see the point in having two full version programmes on my laptop and intend to find a tool which will convert period. But that's by the way, does the conversion itself affect the editing options?
Jack.

You should be able to take the RAW files from camera to a folder on PC..
Then you can use any program that recognises that RAW file/s and change it/them to Tiff/Jpg, whatever, then open them in any program you want in order to manipulate them.
If you got a New camera then you must update the program in order for it to recognise your RAW files. |

I've had a slight hitch with my home network and haven't been able to update anything at all. I think my real problem is lack of organisation. If I were more methodical in my approach instead of jumping about like a demented flea I would probably get on better.I wouldn't have said my camera's that new but hopefully an update may be the answer. Cheers, Jack.

I haven't used elements for a while its a bit complicated and all I do is basic editing and find the gimp quick and easy. |

I don't know exactly what the situation is with other cameras, but Elements seems reluctant to talk to my Olympus! I think it's just my bad luck that Elements doesn't recognise Olympus raw files(orf.)and there's nowt I can do avbout it at the moment cos this is my second day withourt home broadband so I can't try to update the software. Frustrating!!! So at the moment I'm using the office computer just to keep vaguely in touch with what's going on out there. For all I know, you wont have this problem. I've only recently gone over to trying to process from raw and hopefully this series of glitches will clear up soon, touch wood.Cheers, Jack.
