where do my pictures go?

At first I found they were all too big, then one was too small. I think I have got the size sussed now. When I load them they appear to load successfully and I see them with the other Gallery pictures, but after that I can never find them again. How do I keep tags on my pictures?
And generally, what happens to pictures? Obviously so many are being put up the site can't keep them all. How does it decide which goes and which stays?
So far I think I have only managed once to get a picture into my thread and then I think it was the wrong one!

Me again. Hedera, I tried looking in lichens cause I put a few pictures in but they weren't there. I would have put them in FOR ID. Do pictures pass on into the Gallery once they are ID d? If not the Gallery could be loosing some unusual species from members in out of the way places. Obviously they wouldn't accept every picture. Wouldn't it be a good idea if peoples pictures could be put into their own profiles and ACCESS ENABLED from there? They could be automatically placed from there into the Gallery if they were good and dropped off from the personal space in order. Say everyone could have eight or ten pictures in their space, and the oldest would be dropped. This would give everyone time to put their pictures in their current postings. I have been seeing perhaps the worst picture I have uploaded in the heading pictures, turning up from time to time! But none of the better ones.

Hello Animartco. If you want to see your Gallery photos, click on Gallery, and then in the bar above Recent photos, at the left hand end, it says My Photos. Click on that and you will see just yours . If you want to put any of your photos into a posting, you will find two icons to the right of where you type your stuff. One is entitled Gallery Images (with a pic of a goldfinch), and the other is entitled Library Images (a grey camera). Click on the relevant one and it will bring up a strip of your photos so you can click to insert. Gallery images are moderated, so won't be available to view until given the OK; Image Library photos are available to view/insert etc immediately. Hope that helps.

Hi animartco,

No pictures for identification are allowed into the Gallery, so if you have been sending them there, they will show up with the other photos in the awaiting approval section, but will always be subsequently deleted by the Moderators.

The only exceptions are those cases where photos are not of flora/fauna, in which case they obviously wouldn't have common/latin names, but just a descriptive title.

If you have been sending images to the Image Library, (which is where they should be sent for identification purposes and general forum use), then provided you can see your image(s) on the "successfully uploaded" page which appears immediately after you press "upload", you can then get access to them whenever you like by clicking on the "Library Images" link which appears at the right hand side of the text box whenever you are making a post.

Alternatively, you can always get at your images by clicking on the "Images" tab at the top of the forum page, and then clicking on the "My Photos" link which then appears at the top of the Images Index page. (Obviously you need to be logged into WAB before that works).

EDIT - I've just looked at your profile page, and you don't appear to have any images at all in the actual Gallery. (If you did, there would be a section at the bottom of your profile page showing some of your random images - Have a look at some other people's profiles to see what I mean).

Unfortunately they don't. This is apparently due to the way that the WAB software is set up.

If you upload a photo to the Image Library, and it gets properly identified, and you want it to be made available in the Gallery, then you have to upload it again, - direct to the Gallery.

It might all seem a bit pedantic, but it lightens the amount the Gallery editors/ mods have to do and keep the Gallery looking professional and easy to navigate.

once you've figured it out, it does all make sense
