I've lost count of the number of times I've heard Mac users say "I'd never go back to a PC". Funny, I've never heard a PC user say "I'd never go back to a Mac".
I'm a PC user, maybe I don't know what I'm missing.
Well, actually, my Laptop came with Vista. Its rubbish, though XP was great. Wish I'd got a Mac now. |

| | | Re: Photoshop on Mac or Windows?? Anyone using a computer for images professionally will most probably use a MAC.
Any college running image based courses will almost always (to my knowledge) use MAC based technology.
Any good commercial photographic studio will use MACs in conjunction with Hassleblads. All the images you see in catalogues/brochures etc etc have most likeley been PP'ed on a MAC.
I'm just about to migrate 'to the white side' myself.

PS - They're virtually virus free as well......

| | | Re: Photoshop on Mac or Windows?? If your asking which operating system Photoshop works best on then the answer the same. What is important when using Photoshop is the amount of ram you have whether it's a PC or Mac, the more the better.
I have been a Mac user for 7 years and have never used any antivirus, and I rarely switch it off.

| I knew you'd see sense one day Acher and join us on the "white side" despite your post a couple of months ago! Quote:

Personally I can't be doing with them | Regarding the original question, apart from some different keyboard shortcuts Dai is right when he says Photoshop is the same on a Mac or PC - unlike Premiere Pro where Adobe have left out some features on the Mac version.

| Roger | OK sm...ss ! LOL ROFL
We all see sense in the end. I was merely and misguidedly consoling myself because I hadn't got one.
PC envy I suppose.
What a memory you have though ! You're not stalking me are you!?? LOL
Nice to know I'm doing the right thing going white......that is the general consensus of opinion?
It's more expensive but from what I can see it's a bit more reliable and it 's very cheap to up the RAM - and very easy.
And - they're so very neat in more ways than one.

Dai | I dumped my PC three years ago (one crash too many) and replaced it with an iMac.
A month ago I came across anti-virus software specifically for Apple computers. I installed and ran it, and in all the time I'd been online with it there were no infected items.
I'm with Dai, here. I always sleep the Mac when not in use.

| | | Re: Photoshop on Mac or Windows?? Good news for me - I'm getting OH's old MAC (with added RAM) this week but because of an insurance pay out I'll be able to go 'spon new' in about 3 weeks and get the same as his new one - an iMac 21.5" 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ,4GB(2x2GB) DDR3, 500GB HDD 8x Superdrive,GeForce 9400M Bluetooth & EDR Apple Keyboard & Magic Mouse AirPort Extreme, Mac OSX .etc etc (hops from foot to foot with excitement like a small child on Christmas Day as I don't often get a lot.)
Then he/we can use the older MAC as a bigger better display in the 'studio' (spare room) - much better than peering at a little LCD screen to check the quality.
Think I'll get a decent landscape lens as well.
