| | | ZoomBrowser question I can't access my Programme Files Folder (so none of my pictures) nor my Windows folder - there's a "No Entry" sign on the folder - I've no idea what has happened or what I can do to rectify it Can anyone help or point me in the right direction .............. |

| | | Re: ZoomBrowser question Hi Cheryl,
Sounds scary!! What Operating system do you use? I'll assume Windows. How are you trying to access your photos; through My Computer then My Pictures, or can you still view photos through external applications such as viewers or editing programs?
Have you installed any new imaging software recently? Try right-clicking the My Pictures folder from My Computer if up to XP ( though in Vista I think you click the computer's name? I'm now on Linux), then Properties. There should be various acess permissions. You know; 'read', 'write', 'world', 'group' stuff. Tell us what they are - ideally a screen capture of the symbol, permissions screen and the Properties box. Remove any personal information though!
Run a full Anti-virus scan too, if you have time. Failing all this, PC-W...d have a hard-disk recovery service at the Tech G.ys desk.
Good luck!
Take care, Jason

| | | Re: ZoomBrowser question I've just opened zoombrowser and got the same thing. There's no settings to change so I assume it's a default setting. I'm not entirely sure why you're storing pictures in the program files folder though as the default My Pictures location is in My Documents. If you want to access your pictures through Zoombrowser you'll need to move them to a different location. |

| | | Re: ZoomBrowser question Yep mines the same. If you've stored pictures in your program or windows files you can just open up windows explorer and cut/copy and paste them to another location that is visible to zoombrowser, easy peasy |

| | | Re: ZoomBrowser question i used to use zoom browser, but after trying picasa (which is free) i've never touched it. picasa has a much better interface and if fantastic for downloading fro memory card/ organising and viewing photos.
i'd recommend trying picasa, and once you've got used to it i doubt you'll use zoombrowser again

| | | Re: ZoomBrowser question What I did is was I made a folder on the Desk top and named it Photos, I put all my pics into this folder,I use Vista as an operating system and CS3 ,its just a matter of going to the Desktop icon in the browser then looking for the Photos folder then opening.
Have used this system for years with no problems

| | | Re: ZoomBrowser question Thank you all very much for your advice I was so annoyed with myself last night - I was doing a search on a keyword and it kept coming up no files found (or something like that) even though I knew there files. I've not had a chance to look at it today but will make a point of doing so tomorrow .
I bought a copy of a photography magazine a while back which had a CD on it with tips for Canon camera software so I'll see if there is anything on it to put me straight.
Taught me a lesson though - copying my photos to an external hard-drive is on my list of things to do - the last time was about 3 months ago and since then it's been something I'll "do tomorrow", I shall be doing it much more regularly now - I can live without my wildlife "snaps", afterall I have the chance to see the same things again - but other things won't be repeated
Thanks again. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
