| | | Started shooting in RAW but Hi all
after my last post prob. I took some advise to shoot raw. wow really pleased with the 50 testshots,
But i can now only open them in nikon capture nx & i cant seem to find a remove tool for dust spots etc?. Is there one? if not what can i do.
Also while i have you guys here may i ask 1 more ?
while shooting jpeg i had a prob which was v minor & easy sorted.( even for me lol). when i saved the pic & then when back in i notice it was resized almost 3x smaller. the prog did not ask to resize so why did it. I have the original but this pic while large has this flaw any advise please.
ps im hoping work permitting to get on a teccy course to give me a bit help.
thanks gez |

| | | Re: Started shooting in RAW but Gez, don't use NX anymore but updated to NX2, this pic shows the dust remove tool in _NX2_ . As far as I remember, it was in the same place in NX.
Hope this helps.
Ben

thanks gez | you need to open them in nx , or another raw converter like for example lightroom, and then after doing basic work convert them to .tiff for the final post processing the photoeditor software.

More info
say i have a 6mb pic i do a little work on it & it resizes itself!!! ( ie i dont resize it) to say 2.4mb, this size i feel is at a disadvantage to enter a comp with when for eg the max size for the comp is 4mb.
to take this futher if it were to need to be blown by comp for say a poster? would it still be ok ?
thanks in advance all. gez |

| | | Re: Started shooting in RAW but This isn't resizing, it is just re-compressing (this happens every time you re-save a JPEG). Although I shoot 12MB RAW images, most of the resulting JPEGs are less than 1MB. Loss of quality happens if you re-save a JPEG multiple times, but once or twice should give no visible problem. |

| | | Re: Started shooting in RAW but When working in NX or NX" for that matter, when the time comes to save your work, after choosing ""save as"", a small flash screen entitled ""save options dialogue"" will ask if you want to save in whichever quality you desire. Choose ""Excellent quality"" from the drop down, put the pointer to 100 & this will give you the best size possible, usually larger than the original size......
