Is Picasa a good editing program?

It's probably better if you stay away from Photoshop. It's a fantastic program but it takes a long while to get familiar with it. I've been using it regularly since 1997 and I keep discovering new functions and features.

Paint.NET is free and has some very useful features but be warned, none of the more serious editing programs are that easy to use for a beginner as it's all a bit technical (read: geeky!)
