Graphic tablet or mouse

Hi all.

Was just wondering how many of you use or have used a graphic tablet rather than a mouse etc for editing photographs.

I bought a graphic tablet with pen a couple of months ago and after a couple of weeks of sometimes frustration at getting the hang of it I haven't looked back.

I estimate I can edit a photograph in around half the time with the graphic tablet to what it used to take me with a mouse.

I only bought a cheap one, in fact one of the cheapest I could find approximately fifty pounds including postage as I wasn't sure how I would get on with it and I'm over the moon with it. It can also be used for everyday computing needs not just photo editing and is equally as good if not better at all tasks than a mouse.

I have to thank Ben (tormentil) for putting me on to this as it cropped up in a conversation one day, can't remember how but it did.

Anyway your views and opinions are welcomed.

Excellent bits of kit, these are. Since buying one, a few years ago, I've never used a mouse.

As Roger says, they can take a bit of getting used to, but once mastered, I guarantee you'll not use yer mouse again.

I was given one a while back but haven't even taken it out of the box - thought it would be tricky to use Think I'll give it a chance now.

l was given one recently as a gift. I like it but am still at the getting used to it stage. Do you mean that you now never use a mouse for anything at all?

Never even plug the mouse in Jerry.

The pen with the tablet has a couple of buttons on it that can be assigned to different tasks that can do the same as mouse buttons. It's equally as versatile in fact more so than a mouse I use it for everything.

Interesting!
I use 2 screens and found that the tablet was counter-intuitive for both screens at once. Now I have the tablet just for the "main" screen and that seems easier.

My main problem ATM is that I keep touching the pen down as I move it around and keep selecting things

I find both useful but I use a (gorgeous ) Wacom to do photo editing.

I have used a graphic tablet for about 6 months and never use my mouse anymore (in fact don't even know where it is).

The only problem I have is that I tend to walk off with the pen when I leave the computer and put it down in odd places

I often find mine in the pot with real pens

After reading this a graphic tablet now joins the ever-expanding list of things I need (want)!
