I missed the point it would seem! Why do a lot of people recommend a Macro well above 100mm-Mainly, to avoid altering the behaviour of your subject by pushing too-close. I have three Macro lenses, but I primarily only use the 180mm of late. It gives a good woreking distance with twitchy subjects.

Regards Louis R. | Horses for courses I guess - I mainly use 105mm over 150mm (prefer the manual focus on it). If I really have to have distance, use my 300mm with tubes! |

Louis R - I really wouldn't disagree with anything you've said apart from the fact that you presumed I had a 100mm+ lens. I only have one macro lens (as yet) and that's a 90mm Tamron Sony fit.
I really enjoyed reading how moved you are by the subject matter - I can really empathise with that and know the joy of what you see. There's a time ruled by temperature that enables the best images.
I love nature and the more I and my OH see through the macro lens the more I realise just how brilliant it is!
There's so much our eyes miss and our feet walk blindly over.

| | | Re: Digital Photos have no soul The soul of a picture. Created first by the photographer and then recreated by the printers skill. accurate processing, printing, dodging and burning.
Nothing has changed apart from people's mind set about digital.
I started work at a professional printing lab. back then it was all hand retouching on negs and trans. This slowly changed as time has passed and is now totally digital.
The skill in photoshop are the same skills I learn't years ago. Exactly the same. Except now, you, customers, don't have to rely on a printer to 'make' the image the same as the one in your head. Its now all in the hands of the photogapher. Something way beyond most non professional printers years ago.
The 'soul' of the image is down to the photographer. Not the process.
regards.
Stu.
