This is a shot I have posted before, but I have done sum farther adjustments using curves adjustments in cs3,
E 1 DSC_0081 is 1st edit, E 4 DSC_0081 is the new edited version what do you think

I usually reckon that when the image disappears, I have overdone the 'improvements'.
Try again.
In the meantime, here is an excellent tutorial on using Curves Using the Photoshop Curves Tool
