| | | Re: Video editing software I think a lot of the slowness people find with some editing software is down to the fact that they use their PC.
I can assure anyone that FINAL CUT PRO is by no means slow, although I can't speak if it is used on a general computer.
I should say that I use it on a editing suite that is used exclusively for editing.
We also have two Avid Express editing suites for hire with an experienced editor should anyone be interested.

| | | Re: Video editing software I've always used Pinnacle Studio. Not free but very good. Works with avi and mpeg but I don't know about mov.
Video editing at high res (e.g to create DVDs to play on your telly) is very resource intensive and it will chew up all the memory and processing power that you throw at it. When I first started doing it on a 386 PC running Windows 98 it would take nearly 20 hours to render 2 hours of video. On my current machine which has a Core 2 Quad processor and 4Gb of RAM and is running the 64 bit version of Windows Vista it now takes about 3 hours. I've a feeling that although I have the 64 bit version of Vista, my version of Pinnacle Studio is still 32 bit.

| | | Re: Video editing software Definitely down to the hardware but software does have a part to play. I believe, FCP is now becoming industry standard with regards to editing, if I was starting a fresh I'd go with MAC and FCP.
I must admit when I first saw Video Toaster 2 though on a PC I just could not believe how quick it was everything in real time I'm now running VT 5.2 and still everything is real time from editing to colour grading it's a great package, running on a 1 year old Quad core with 4 gig of RAM. I don't work for Newtek I just feel it's editing package is so often over looked because of the big three and has a lot to offer for it's price. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
