| | | Capture NX - WTH? Ok so just got my D300 last weekend. Decided today to try out the Capture NX trial version. Install it and it tells me my trial period has expired.
So not only do they not give us the full version free, they then take the P by not even getting their trial version to work properly.
Not happy. anyone else had this?

Did you just get the trial version? When I bought mine some time ago I got the full version; there was a serial number printed somewhere on the CD cover.
Mind you: that was before NX2 came out and I would have to pay to upgrade to that version.

Thanks for replying.
The wallet that the CD came with has Free Trial in large letters on it, cannot see a code to enter at all.
Just to make this weirder - I looked for solutions and discovered that Capture NX2 had come out - I download it and guess what...exactly the same issue - expired.
I haven't used any of these products before. I have now sent Nikon a question to answer - hopefully I will get some help there - no experience of what their customer service is like.

| | | Re: Capture NX - WTH? Hi Toby,
Like Dirk I got the full licenced version with my D300 back in Feb and thought that Nikon were now bundling it with all DSLRs form their "professional" range. The D300 was designated as professional kit when it was launched but maybe it got reclassified when the D700 came out. Personally, as I said in another post, I think they should include it with all their DSLRs as standard.
Not that I use it. It was version 1.0 that was supplied with my camera and it's upgradeable to v1.4 at no cost. But for me it lacks some of the features of Lightroom that I've got used to and I didn't find it very easy to use. Perhaps version 2 is better but as I'm happy with Lightroom I'm not inclined to pay for that upgrade.
I've had dealings with Nikon technical support on two occasions and both times they were very helpful and on the ball. Hope they are for you too!

| | | Re: Capture NX - WTH? Sooo,
I got my reply - here it is.
"Dear Toby,
Thank you for your email, I am sorry to say there is little we can do. There must be something on your system telling the software it has expired. All I can advise is if you want to try the software you can do so on another computer or you would have to format and reinstall Windows to use the software. If you require further help please let me know.
Kind Regards
Connor D.

What a joke. I can understand why it's come back like this but this is hardly a way to promote your software now is it. Maybe I will do a complete re-install as my PC is about due. If it doesn't work after that then Nikon can kizmyrs.

I'm not going to shell out £100 for something I can't even trial..... |

I would like to just try it out to see what it's like...still no luck so far.

| | | Re: Capture NX - WTH? It wasnt at the time, I have the luxury of having a Jessops and a Jacobs across the road from each other..I asked at Jessops for any discount or free-beed to tempt me to pay £1000 for a D300 there, or I would go across the raod to Jacobs, I was offered nothing, and they let me walk out the shop to buy a camera from a competitor. I asked the same at Jacobs, they knocked £50 cash off to beat the Jessops price, through in the full version Capture X instead of the trail version (which went with the camera at Jessops) gave me a 4GB memory card too...
But, tell you the truth I use the program very little, I shoot not very often in RAW, I do all adjustments of jpegs in Photoshop 5... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
