| | | Corel or Adobe? Now thinking of buting either Paintshop Corel or Adobe elements. My main subjects are Landscape in Black and White, Nature, ans abstract. I want to add colour to parts of monochrome prints, sort out the skies in Landscapes and improve my macro shots. I take most photography magazines but they use both programmes. what would be my best buy please? and who what web site should I buy from? and what should I expect to pay?

| | | Re: Corel or Adobe? Why not have a punt at the Serif software. you can get a free early version of their Photoplus program. I have used their stuff for quite a bit and find it good, but slightly demanding on your hardware. Google serif photoplus, you will find it. |

| | | Re: Corel or Adobe? Personally, I wouldn't recommend the earlier versions of Serif Photo Plus which are usually given as freebies. Sometimes you can find version 8 but I think this is still very basic.
If you like the idea of using Serif, lash out and buy one of their more recent versions. They made a lot of improvements with No. 10 and the current one is X2. You can get this for around £50 and I fully recommend it. The later models give you basic options plus quite a lot of semi professional items which appear on the more expensive Adobe Photoshop programmes.
I've never got along with Photoshop Elements, but it is one of the most popular brands. |

| | Re: Corel or Adobe? Thanks but I have had a play with the freebie and it has all i want. My main work is club reports and identification guides on wildlife subjects which I do free for beginners. I also do slide (Powerpoint now) shows so this is all I really need it for.

Colin. | Hi Spoonbill
I use Photoshop. Like you, I like part monochrome part b/w photography. You will get a better result if you shoot in colour and then overlay a b/w copy then erase the parts of the b/w you want in colour. Rather than taking a b/w image and adding colour from the pallet. The result isn't no where near as natural.
