| | | How do I stop Photoshop Elements from... ... auto-opening every time I put in a USB stick with a photo on it or (and more annoyingly) every time I connect my camera to download its images!
Any help would be most welcome. I enjoy using Photoshop so don't want to uninstall it but I also like downloading from my camera with the software that came with it. PSE slows down my computer and even when I click cancel and try to close it down it just stays up there trying to find every JPEG on my machine to open in its organiser. Is there a way I can stop it doing this? Now I'm using it more often it's really frustrating
Thanks in advance! |

| | | Re: How do I stop Photoshop Elements from... With Adobe Lightroom, it loads a down-loader program that checks all external connected devices and auto runs the program. I imagine Elements does the same? In which case all you do is find the small icon on the lower tool bar, right mouse click and select disable. |

| | | Re: How do I stop Photoshop Elements from... Aha! Thanks guys (and for the quick responses too!)
I had tried the preferences when using the editing section (where I didn't get any joy) but not in the organizer section!!!
I have just found the option 'Use Abobe Photo Downloader to get photos from camera or card reader' and de-selected it! I'm now presuming all my problems will be solved. Now to just get the perfect results with my images ha
Many thanks again! |

Many thanks again! | Well you'd have thought that would have done the trick.... BUT I just stuck my USB drive in and sure enough Adobe Photo Downloader kicked in and searched through it Gonna have to keep trying!
Graham - which lower tool bar do you mean? If you mean on the Windows taskbar I can't see any small icons for it |

| | | Re: How do I stop Photoshop Elements from... Grrr!!! Just tried it with my camera and although the usual Canon download programme opened up Abobe Downloader still kicked in and just paused on 'loading' for ages so you can't even cancel it or get rid of it. You can only do that when it actually starts to open your images! I have definitely unchecked the option that seems to be relevant. Very annoying... |

| | | Re: How do I stop Photoshop Elements from... Hi,
No, it is Adobe Photoshop Elements, don't think that's the same as Nero's version. I always connect my camera when turned off, then turn it on once connected to begin the usual download process. I just got sick of having to keep cancelling the Adobe downloader. It didn't use to come on until I installed PSE |

Did you restart your pc after resetting the preferences?
If not, try doing so then see if Adobe downloader is disabled.
This link may be of some help: Disable Adobe Photo Downloader in Photoshop Elements 4.0

| | | Re: How do I stop Photoshop Elements from... Thanks. I hadn't tried re-starting... But I have now and no change! I've done everything mentioned on the link but still no joy. I'm using version 3.0 though, but it still seems to be dealt with in the same manner. Not sure where I've gone wrong.
