| | | Re: Budget Software try ebay for serif.
Its OK so is Arcsoft. The free Picasa2 from google has its merits as well. |

| | | Re: Budget Software It`s obviously more basic than the more recent versions of Elements(which is just a cut-down version of Photoshop), but it`ll give you a taster of what the program`s like,if you decide you like it the latest version is only around £60 which is good value.
Pm me your address and i`ll pop it in the post to you tomorrow sometime...

| | | Re: Budget Software just google serif - they come up in the top three hits - they sell their software direct either by download or on cd. Elements is good - its basically a cut down version of photoshop and will do most of what you need - version 6 costs about 50 notes on amazon. Also paints shop pro (arround 80 notes) is also worth a loook
however that said both GIMP and irfanview are as good and are free so why not try these first - be careful how you google for GIMP it stands for GNU Image Manipilation Programe so you might be better searching for that.

| | | Re: Budget Software If you go to Serifs web site look through the Sales section to see what is available. As I have said previously, don't get anything earlier than version 10.
If you phone them they will try to talk you into the latest version (X2) which is good and, I think easy to use. You will need to be firm with them but they are open to deals and special prices. I have been a customer for many years and have never paid anything close to the asking price. My tip is, give a sharp intake of breath followed by a low whistle, mention that Photoshop Elements 3 is free with the printer that you are thinking about buying and let them talk you around. The User Guide which comes with X2 is very well written and worth a read; although it is aimed chiefly at newcomers there are a few tips which old hands will find interesting. With all versions, the Help information is very comprehensive.
Check a few photo magazines for reports on software and see what suits you.
