| | | Exporting Images From Lightroom Hi All
Having a lot of problems uploading images taken on my 30D to the Gallery since I changed from using Canon Zoom Browser to re-size images to using the Export facility in Lightroom.
In one of the forums I was given to understand the new WAB software would automatically re-size images. When trying to upload a jpeg exported from lightroom at 300 resolution, 100% quality and 1024 x 768 I just get timed out. Reducing the quality to 80% also times out if I try to upload. Tried further compression and I get told the image is too small.
When I used Canon Zoom Browser to resize an image you could see what the file size would be. In Lightroom when you export there is no information with regard to the file size and I therefore have to keep trying different permutations and check in the windows file browser to see the file size which is a pain.
Can anyone share with me their Lightroom Export settings that have proved to be successful, i.e. Quality, Resolution, Pixel Size etc.
If I can get the format right I can then set it up as a user preset which will make the process a lot easier.

| | | Re: Exporting Images From Lightroom Gerry, i`ve just tried exporting an image in jpeg from Lightroom from a Raw file, at the 1024px size you mentioned on the width side. Exported at 100% quality, 150 pixels per inch res.Colourspace sRGB. It uploaded no problem at all onto the forum images Gallery......exporting at these settings gave a jpeg file size of 467.92kb.
Shot below....

Thanks for that, the image looks fine to me. I think the trick might be the lower resolution of 150 pixels per inch, I have been tending to use 300. Will give it a try.
Don't know what your views are but I think not having the exported file size in the Lightroom Export Dialogue Box is a bit of a downside, hope Adobe will pick up on this in later versions.

| | | Re: Exporting Images From Lightroom Hi Gerry,
I tend to just export as jpeg at full size from the raw ,then do one minor editing stage in Irfanview ( resize for web and slight sharpen usually), or if i think the image is worth more time,or needs more work, in Photoshop.
After I posted my first reply, i tried exporting the image at 300ppi and it didnt change the jpeg file size at all, so I doubt thats what your problem is.
Your upload problems may be with your internet connection, or you just may have been unlucky to catch the WaB server at a bad time when its running a bit slow and timing out. What jpeg file sizes were you getting at the settings you were using to export?
