| | | Photoshop elements 2 Found this program on the Pc did'nt know it was on the PC. It came as part of the software with my daughters compact digital. I had a mess around and followed some tutourials on line. I find it amazing what you can do whit a picture even after its taken. This photograpy is getting a grip on me
This is a Pic again by the FUJI S500. |

I like that very much, life at it's earliest stage. The chick and shell stand out very nicely against the grey toned background. PS Elements is a great programme, I can't remember if it's version 5 or 6 that is the latest. I use version 4 and find it does all I need. It's also much cheaper than the full blown Photoshop version which although is an excellent fully featured package, is probably more than the average hobbyist photographer needs.
Sure someone will shoot me down in flames for the last comment but that's only my personal opinion.

I fully agree Roger. I have Photoshop CS2 and I know I don't use it to it's full potential and probably never will. If I was starting over I would plump for Photoshop Elements and save myself a hell of a lot of money. The money I would have saved could have bought me some decent camera equipment. |

It's true what you say about the full blown versions of Photoshop. A lot of it is dedicated to pre-press applications (when was the last time you converted to CMYK ?). A friend of mine just had to (illegally) install CS 2 on his computer, as he reasoned it would give him better images. All it succeeded in doing, was slowing his machine down to a painfully slow crawl: he didn't take into account the amount of RAM that programmes like that require.

| | | Re: Photoshop elements 2 I am running with CS3 at present but I have used CS2 and Elements previously. You are absolutely right in saying that Elements is all you would need as a hobbyist or even semi-professional. It is a great program to use and compared to CS3 it is a lot easier. It has everything you need and more. I was lucky and had the opportunity to upgrade for very little cash so I took the upgrade. It has taken me around a year to learn CS3 and although I still am not there, it is a fantastice progam. I also use Lightroom and that is superb too, especially if you shoot in RAW.

| | | Re: Photoshop elements 2 Its always the same you get a program and we never use it to the full potential alot of the facilities of the full program are geared to the professionals and Elements is a terrific program its version 6 we are on now

| | | Re: Photoshop elements 2 I use CS 2, and like the control I can have with image editing. I've used Elements 6 on a friends computer, but for me there is too much automation. What I would like Adobe to do, is release a version of Photoshop without all the pre-press nonsense, specifically for photographers, and price it accordingly: I'm sure it would be a strong seller.
I agree with Brocker. Lightroom is an excellent piece of software, and I use it to convert my RAW files before finishing off in CS 2.

By the way what is the bird/chick | Sorry for the late reply, for some reason the posts was not showing to me.
The egg which is nearing the completion of hatching is a Peregrine Falcon.
You can use it if you want to,
