1 You can crop pictures to remove extraneous background picture
2 You can compress the pictures (we're talking jpegs .... here) by reducing the number of pixels/cm2 or whatever
All photo programmes have this facility but if you don't have one then download IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide which is free  You then simply load your picture, go to Image:resize change the largest dimension to 800, save and away you go ....
I haven't explained '2' very well but I'm suffering from football deprivation and am going off to mow the lawn .... basically, the 'resize' option shrinks the picture!

But in addition to the methods above, download a copy
of "Easy Thumbnails" and easy controls allow you to
dictate pixel size and quality, i.e. amount of detail, left
in the photo.
Will work on directories / batches at a time.
NB
Make sure you put something in the prefix box
of else you thumbnail will overwrite the original
and not warn you - well it is freeware. |
