South Staffs Field club?

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone knew of any field clubs or general naturalist societies in the South Staffs/Wolverhampton area?

I am looking to go on some field trips in this general area to increase my knowledge of wildlife and meet like minded people.

I have been making occasional forays to Highgate Common (my main area of interest) and making a photographic record of what I find there but it can get quite lonely doing it by myself (my partner is often unable to accompany me due to work commitments).

If there are no generalist clubs in the area then how would I go about forming one?

While I am quite capable of advertising such a club to potentially interested parties would it require me to take out insurance of any kind for the field trips?

Would it require a secretary and president etc., or could it just be an informal gathering of people under an umbrella name?
