Chris Packham...

Hi, has anyone been to see Chris Packham on his Never Mind The Buzzards.. tour that is on at the moment? I am going to see him in Lincoln this coming Saturday, it sounds a really interesting evening. Just wondered if anyone else had seen it or planning to see it?

Mandy- I hadn't heard about this tour. I'm sure it will be an entertaining evening as Chris is a great character + certainly knows his wildlife. Have a great time + let us know how it went!

Saw him at an RSPB event last spring. He is brilliant. Down to earth, funny and extremely knowledgeable. I shook his hand and have his autograph too. Lucky me.

Re: Chris Packham...

It seems to be a show he will do for whoever books him. I tried to find a listing but could only find isolated adverts for a couple of venues he was currently booked to do. If anyone finds a complete listing I'd be grateful for the link.

Re: Chris Packham...

He's a really nice guy. I've met him three times now and the last time had chance to have a good chat about Dragonflies with him, his knowledge of all things wild is stunning.

If he is doing talks then I can imagine how good they will be, his enthusiasm is highly infectious.

Looks like you're right, Smartie. I've found this page for the production/management company that manages booking of his shows. Maybe for the next WAB AGM?

Chris Packham - theatre shows.

Re: Chris Packham...

oooooo....I do hope it comes to kent...or he does i should say.

I picked up his "Back garden Nature reserve" book at christmas to use up the last few quid of a christmas garden centre voucher...I am reading it in bed and its actually really good. From an ecology point of view as well as robin stroker level...And in the following 3 days after reading his chapter on Sparrowhawks i have seen 3! ha ha...jus a coincidence though.

We should shortly move into the long awaited country house so i can put more of the Wildlife garden ideas into practice....Cant wait.

He's amazing. The only person I know with a collection of animal poo and roadkill skulls! He like people to handle his finds too!

Re: Chris Packham...

UPDATE!

What a great night, very informative and amusing. It was at a very pleasant venue and we had a ten minute chat with Chris during the interval and got photos! I haven sussed out how to upload pics on here but the pics can be seen on my blog British Nature and Wildlife pics

He was really pleasant and down to earth, just a regular guy! Would recommend anyone to go to one of his shows if you get the chance. The second part of his excellent series "Natures Calendar" starts on BBC2 in the next week or so.

Re: Chris Packham...

Lucky you. Wonder how much he costs to book. That WAB AGM idea someone mentioned a while back (sorry, someone, can't remember who ) sounds like a good idea. I might check with his management company, just out of interest, though I suspect it will be too expensive.

I think it actually starts on the 12th February and, speaking of which (and without wishing to sound too immodest ) I'm pleased to say the BBC have put one of my Kingfisher shots as the lead photo on the home page of the programme's website - BBC Natures Calendar - I'm chuffed to bits

Thanks for your kind words (and you Mandy) but No - it's better than that - it's a regular visitor to my garden It started coming in Spring of last year when I completed a two ponds with adjoining stream water feature. The photo on the Natures Calendar website was taken during the Christmas break when it was here nearly every day and for up to 2 hours a day. It was here again over the weekend and on Sunday morning spent more than half an hour perched over my pond about 30' from our patio window!

There's lots more photos on the Gallery if you're interested. I posted another this morning.

Of course - sorry Jeff, I forgot you had already told us about your personal kingfisher. Have you considered building a hide by your pond for the use of other WAB members??
