All I can report is the fabulous Mandarins on Arrowe Park lake although everyone knows about them already ( I do the WeBs there)
Great to hear from a fellow wirralite. |

| | | Re: Wirral WABbers? Hi Katie . I didn't know about the mandarins but since you mention Arrowe Park I'll mention a rare plant at the edge of one of Arrowe Park Hospital's car parks - Yellow Bartsia, Parentucellia viscosa |

Love petrels got to help ring some Storm petrels over in Ireland a coupla years ago...That was amazing, sitting in the dark waiting for the eerie sounds to start...so Ill definately go out to Leasowe to look for the Leach's Petrels. What month do they turn up Chris??

Adam thats great news we need rough grassland and habitat corridors!! | Anytime in autumn really. Sometimes as early as Sep' and sometimes as late as early Nov' as I recall. Good powerful NW gales are ideal. I've heard reports that they are sometimes blown over the observers heads on the shore! Checking Birdforum and/or Birdguides helps too as their occurences are usually short lived.
Alas, I go most years and always miss them! They are a real bogey bird for me. Last year was most frustrating as two other observers saw two distant ones and yet again, I couldn't get the 'scope on 'em (I think they were making it up just to annoy me ).
