| | | Wildlife Artists Hi,
Just redecorating and the 2 wildfowl prints that have hung on the wall since 1980/84 have to go as wife wants minimalistic look.
One is by Julian Novorol "Widgeon Under The Moon" , its a l/e signed print from 1983 134/500.
Julian Novorol is a contempory artist so I have had no problem finding info about him , his prints are widely advertised.
The other print is by Campbell Black " Pinkfeet Geese Over Loch " its again a l/e signed print 5/200 and has been remarked by the artist by pencil sketches of the geese and numbered 5/30 .
I have had it since 1980.
I cant find any info on Campbell Black and was wondering if any on here can help as I intend to sell the prints.
TIA

Cant find much info apart from a 2009 ebay listing of one of his paintings so I have emailed the dealer of that.
Thanks again

Julian | I suspect they may be one and the same person. In the sales description of a painting entitled 'Greenwing Teal over Great Bear Marshes near The Great Salt Lake, Utah' it states: Geoffrey Campbell Black, a 20th century English artist, began his career after the 2nd world war where he was held as a prisoner of war in Germany. His first exhibition was held in 1953 in London.
Perhaps he lived in the US in later life? He was also one of the illustrators of a wildfowling anthology entitled "A Pattern of Wings and Other Wildfowling Tales"
Cheers

| | | Re: Wildlife Artists Greetings to All who were writing about Geoffrey Campbell-Black. He was an interesting man - a good friend of our family in Torquay just after World War II. I am trying to reconnect with his sister, Rosemary - a childhood friend of mine, and wonder if Geoffrey's grandson has an address for her. My last name was GORDON, first name Colinette. To the gentleman wanting to know more about Geoffrey - he lived in Torquay for many years, with his mother and sister and brother. He had been in the British Army in World War II. He lived in Kingsbridge, Devon after he was married. Sadly, he died in 2002.
I found his obituary in the London Gazette. You can find out the worth of his paintings if you go on Ebay to see sales. Good Luck. Sincerely, Colinette. |
