| | | Calling WABers in Richmond upon Thames I hope that you don't think that I am "poaching" as per your rules -
# No poaching - don't use this website to recruit members or content for other sites that conflict with the interests of Wild About Britain (i.e. don't try and use WAB to create your own/group's wildlife Gallery, forum, directory etc)
Just wanted to let peeps know that I have started a Friends Group for a wonderful LNR called Ham Lands, which runs along the Thames roughly between Ham House and Teddington Lock. We had an amazing turnout at our first public meeting a couple of weeks ago and have the support of both Surrey County Council and Richmond Council.
The area used to be flood meadows and was then used for gravel extraction. In the 1950's all but one of the pits was infilled with bomb rubble from the south bank. There are plans to restore the flood plain in the future. All very exciting and challenging.
Our preliminary website is Friends of Ham Lands
