| | | Who's your natural world hero? ..or heroine? Who inspired and inspires you?
For me, it's Ray Mears, and a bloke called Dave who taught me Falconry when I was a lad.
Jack Hargreaves maybe too...anyone remember 'Country Boy' back in the 60s?

| | | Re: Who's your natural world hero? Tough one this. I was a Jack Hargreaves fan too, but in my earlier childhood days, Enid Blyton played a part as well.

For me it was the books of Gerald Durrell (My family & other animals etc.) and the films of David Attenborough Whenever I watch Life on Earth I am transported in my mind back to when I was an excited kid waiting eagerly for each episode to show and then hanging on his every word ... the word 'inspirational' just doesn't do it justice |

| | | Re: Who's your natural world hero? For me, it has to be the late Alfred Wainwright. All his guide books are a joy to read and works of art, the best thing he did was A Coast to Coast Walk. One I've done 6 times and on my 7th crossing in 2010 and I would never tire of it. I will be paying my respects to A.W. on Haystacks when I do the Coast to Coast next year. |
