RSPB Lodge near Sandy

Hi All,

Im not sure where to put this, so thought i would post it here.

Just wanted to know if anyone was up and about in The RSPB researve on Sunday 29th? I was up there myself, and saw alot of people with camera's. was very impressed buy the size of one lady's lens who seemed to be with her two little girls.

If your on here would like to know if you got any decent shots of the woodpecker, once i managed to call it down from the tree tops?

Matthew, it sounds like you knocked it out of the tree But I just realised you were drumming - does that work then, or are you jesting? I tried it myself, but wasn't fast enough.

Yeah it does work, but it took me about an hour to find a tree and stone that made a loud enough sound, Then another half hour for one to hear and find me.

Well worth it could not believe how close he came to see who was drumming!!

My arm was killing me after about 20min, just couldn't keep up with him.

We've been toying with the idea of using a "ghetto blaster" type player with a recording of the drumming. Anyone tried this?

There has been a lot of debate about this practice HW on a email list I belong to, most condemn this practice, I for one am totally against it.
