I didn't see your post somehow Galanthus, but I agree - the newsreader's last comment to Kate about not having to save Bill if he was drowning was quite surprising. However difficult the interview was with him due to the elements and repeated Daily Mail references, Bill wasn't saying anything against him so it was unfair of him to bring it down to a personal level IMO. |

| | | Re: Bill Oddie Quits I just watched the You Tube clip. The phrase 'Doesn't suffer fools gladly' comes to mind.
Bill had a genuine gripe about the sound failing and the poorly phrased question about the squirrels I think, but the male presenter went way over the line with his last comment. Very childish.
...mind you if my ship was taking in water and I needed to loose some weight I'd rather throw a human overboard first, so maybe that's why I empathise with Bill.

Surely the only man to replace Bill is the only man on TV with the ability to divide the nation as much as him. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you JEREMY CLARKSON.
He's a birdwatcher. And it will give the Daily Mail readers something new to complain about. Stick a beard on him and some people won't even notice Bill's gone.
Seriously though, Chris Packham or Nick Baker would be ideal choices. Though I think Fogle will get the job. The beeb will see him as a very safe pair of hands.
Has anyone mentioned Jonathan Scott? Always does a good job on Big Cat Diaries. |

I really like Jonathan Scott but isn't he camped out in Africa.

| | | Re: Bill Oddie Quits I think people need to remember this is a british wildlife series and a lot of those mentioned prob havent or dont even live here? and there speciality lies in more exotic wildlife.
I still reckon Packham or Baker, or maybe Mike Dilger or one of the one show wildlife gang...but fear titmarsh or fogle may get it....not that i dont like fogle...i do, but he is not from a nature/wildlife background he is just a charming presenter.
