| | | Jack Hargreaves I'm giving my age away with this, but does anyone remember Jack Hargreaves?
He used to present a program called Country Boy, back in the early sixties.
The program was transmitted from a studio set made up to look like an old potting shed. (In black & white if I remember correctly).
It was Jack's program that first introduced this townie to the delights of nature, and I've been a wildlife afficionado ever since.
Regards

The program introduced me to fishing, which I practised for a good number of years until I got into diving. That stopped the fishing dead. There is just nothing to beat seeing things in their natural environment - whatever the species involved.
Anyway - I'm digressing from the point of my own thread (slap on wrist).

I am just a country boy
Money have I none
But I've got silver in the stars
And gold in the morning sun... (can't remember the rest).
Ah - memories of childhood, glued to the telly, waiting for that song to strike up. (most kids would sooner play with a computer game these days).

| | | Re: Jack Hargreaves I remember Jack Hargreaves & "Out of Town" .. it was made by Southern Television (based in Southampton) .. and if I remember correctly some episodes featured a fresh-faced, dark-haired lad of about 14 called ........... Simon King ....
I used to watch it whilst serving in the Royal Marines and stationed in Portsmouth .. in fact we had our own version of the song "Out of Town" ... it went something like ...
"Say what you will
Me Granny's on the pill
The only way that she can settle down "
Etc etc .....
Slightly O/T (but not too far) ....
When I returned from the Far East (very late 60's - early 70's .. I was part of an RM Demonstration & Recruiting Team who were interviewed at RM Barracks Eastney (Portsmouth) by a young, blonde, SLIM lass from the same Southern Television called .... Fern Britton ....
Bye for now ..
Kev ..
