Funny that someone should mention "How" (also a Southern TV Production) .. but the main presenter .. Fred Dineage was a regular visitor to the flats in Southsea, where my Ex used to live before we got married .. his elderly Mum lived in the flat below my Ex ...

Funny that, i caught up with a mate who serves in 29reg out of plymouth this summer who must have got jack hargreves into every conversation. the old boy does like to dangle his rod now and then but never mentiond your song, i'll have to quiz him on it.

Ah yes, wonderful memories of Out of Town and Jack Hargreaves, I think my interest in the countryside/nature and wildlife was influenced by both Jack's programmes and country walks with my grandfather (a former shepherd)

Of course its now difficult to look back without veering to Country Matters and Bob Fleming and crew...

Gosh I remember him. I've never fished in my life but I liked the way he sat among all the paraphenalia in his shed and taught you how to make different brightly coloured flies.
He was very fond of the Suffolk Punch (the horse, LoL) and told you all the good points of the breed. He was fond of his buggies too and showed us how to build one.

Pauline, I also remember Dick Barton and Ginger .. and Walks with Romany. I've got the Walks with Romany book in my bookcase. Must get it out for a re-read.
