| | | Re: i.d of this berry please Impossible to say with certainty without seeing the tree from which it came. It looks like an ornimental Crab Apple.
Why not cut in in half to see if it has a stone like a Cherry or pips like an Apple? That would help.

For identification of plants or parts of plants it helps to have other material. Typically leaves, twigs or bark. For individual fruit it often helps to cut the fruit in half. For instance you call this a berry, but it might be a pome (like an apple). Numbers and size of seeds or stones can also be informative.
It is not recommended that you use WAB for identifications which might relate to toxicity, edibility or other things related to Health & Safety. The problem is that you may cause legal problems for WAB or its contributors if you acted on the basis of any identification provided here.
For both these reasons, I'm not going to suggest an name for this fruit.
