..at least I think that's what they are. On a bough of old willow in a wet part of Firestone Copse, IoW, yesterday and I think there are two species of
Parmelia here..
I wonder if the larger yellow-green species is
Parmelia caperata (a gardening book tells me
caperata means wrinkled and that fits, anyway).
And I think there is a smaller greyish species mixed up with it, apparently with black hair-like structures near the edges, just visible right of centre in this crop..
..which would tally with
Parmelia perlata.
Would anyone agree on these as possibilities?
