| | | Is this a type of Horsetail? :-) Found in Monsal Dale yesterday, along the edge of a damp path (but not near the river)....
...and I've forgotten what this plant is. It has a rather musty smell when you rub the leaves.
(I used to chop it up when I was little and add it to my mud pies! )
Thanks,
Tracey

| | | Re: Is this a type of Horsetail? :-) Looks like Field Horsetail ( Equisetum arvense)
Hope you did feed the mud pies to anyone - Ragwort is probably not too good for you |

I can't believe I didn't know it was Ragwort Just goes to show how little notice I've taken of the leaves when I've seen the plant in flower!
Thanks Tiggrx

| | | Re: Is this a type of Horsetail? :-) I have a feeling about the second plant. It doesn't look quite right for ragwort and I believe it is Musk-mallow, Malva moschata. That could explain the musty smell. What do you think? |

What do you think? | It would explain it actually. I am not sure on this one though. I thought Common Ragwort at first but the leaves of Musk Mallow also look convincing Musk-mallow |
