| | | Moss (?) ID required Can anyone help with this please,found in Jan growing on rotting ash log pile. Bright foxy/rust red colour caught my eye. Unshaded area in hawthorn scrub, East Midlands. |

It looks like it could be some sort of fungal growth in some of your pics.
The hairy stuff could be mycelial but I'm no expert on moss or fungi (or
anything else, to be honest - including photography). |

| | | Re: Moss (?) ID required Mystery solved -I had sent a sample to the County Natural History collection and you were right PetetheBloke - it's fungal. He got a second and third opinium too. It's the mycelium (ozonium) of Coprinus domesticus. thanks |
