| | | Could this micro-moth be Emmelina spp?
This is a bit of a long-shot and I'm hoping to find a micro-moth fan out there.
This little beauty settled on hogweed flower in a vase. I suspect that its larvae may have been responsible for chewing leaves of exotic plants in the conservatory (they are very welcome!). Could it be Emmelina spp? I can get an enlarged image, but it would be a tad fuzzy. |

| | | Re: Could this micro-moth be Emmelina spp? This is Amblyptilia acanthadactyla, a species which regularly comes into buildings to hibernate. Its unlikely that this is the same beast as the thing that is eating your plants. |

A couple of questions:
Is there recommended photo guide to micro-moths?
What would the larvae eat? |

What would the larvae eat? | Britsh Moths and Butterflies a photographic guide by Chris Manley (ISBN 978-0-7136-8636-4) is perhaps the best photogaphic guide and covers some micro's. Might be a better more specific micro book though.
Their larvae feed on the flowers of quite a wide range species like cranesbill, heather, woundwort etc. |

| | | Re: Could this micro-moth be Emmelina spp? Mr Lewington is currently working on a field guide for micro species.
UKMoths is the best website that I know of for micros.
