| | | Mothing 2012! Welcome to Mothing 2012!
Last year I finished on 4029 moths.
I can't wait to get cracking this year.
I moved into a new house in November, so I'm very excited to see what species I'll be getting here!
Keeping my fingers crossed for some lovely lifers! Hopefully Adam can help me with updating my life list too!
I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else traps aswell.
Happy Mothing!

| | | Re: Mothing 2012! This might be a very interesting thread for me because I'm hoping to start some fairly regular trapping for the first time next year - I may well be asking for some help with some identifications (but I won't do that on this thread!). Quote:

Either way I'm impressed - I'll be happy to trap and identify a couple of hundred during the year!

That's the number of moths trapped in my garden!
I've yet to total up the number of different species caught!
Hope you enjoy joining in this year!

| | | Re: Mothing 2012! Thanks for starting this thread Cordaline, I'm looking forward to doing some more moth trapping this year.
I'd hoped to put my trap out one night over the festive season, but the conditions haven't been very good unfortunately so I've not bothered. |

| | | Re: Mothing 2012! Welcome to you Vicki and I'm also looking forward to a second year of moth trapping.
I didn't count all moths last year, as I was a beginner and was more intent on identification!
I caught a total of 163 macro species and 62 different micros, so a grand total of 225 species, although I didn't start until April/May.
Also interested to see what other people catch as well. |

No score draw for me as yet!
I was hoping my outside light might attract something!

| | | Re: Mothing 2012! There was talk of doing some regular trapping at Crossness. If that takes off I'll be heavily involved and, like Roy, I'll be on this forum begging for IDs! I must check with the reserve warden what the plans are. When would the more experienced trappers recommend we start? Is March too soon?
