After the March Moth trapped the other day, my wife caught a Chestnut in the house. So, the year list is on 3.
My bird list is doing much better! |

I might give it a go tonight, though the forecast says it will be a bit windy 13-17mph. Otherwise looking good, overcast but dry and mild. |

Otherwise looking good, overcast but dry and mild. | The wind was much stronger than they forecast - I woke a couple of times during the night and could hear it howling away, it sounded like a gale, so I thought there'd be no chance of any moths visiting the trap.
But to my surprise there was one, not actually in the trap but on the shed wall next to it. And it was a new one for me - a Spring Usher. So it was definitely worth putting the trap out after all!  |

Morning all,
Glad to see a few moths are around. Managed to trap for the first time this year last night. It was very windy with a few spots of rain, but was pleased with my haul.
Spring Usher x5
Pale-brindled Beauty x2
Chestnut x9
Dotted Border x2
Total 18 moths, 4 species
Spring Usher and Dotted Border are new for me, and only the 2nd and 3rd Pale- brindled Beauty I've caught. Most of the moths were either on the trap or on the ground around it. I do have photographic proof if anyone is interested!

Last nights total has risen to 19, and 5 species with a late find of the micro Tortricodes alternella! |

My year list rises to 5 with the capture of a Pale Brindled Beauty.
Also 1 March Moth and 1 Chestnut in the trap... |
