| | | Moth ID help - again Hi All,
Please can anyone help confirm or identify these moths that I caught last night while walking around Denham country park.
The first is I believe a Brick due to the jagged red edge to the outer cross band, however there seem to be two black dots near the wing root which Waring and Townsend say is indicitive of Yellow-lined Quaker. Please advise.
The second is what I think a Chestnut - but would appreciate any feedback
I also caught one of my favorites which is easy to ID:
Looking forward to the feedback.
Rob
PS - I found uploading these images very easy - just followed the instructions |

I have had a little too much of 'me home brew apple wine' tonight!! God bless the traditional wine makers!! We are too far and few between these days!!
At about £1.00 a gallon I don't know why more people don't make this traditional brew, hic!!
I can tell you that the third picture is of a Lime hawk moth!

Naturegirl | I think we can tell! The last is most certainly NOT a Lime Hawkmoth but an Angle-shades.
Others are:
1 Brick
2 Chestnut |

"I don't know why more people don't make this traditional brew, hic!!"
I understand that willow bark is a traditional remedy to the traditional brew LOL
Thanks for the Confirmation of the Brick and Chestnut, the brick was actually a new one for me so am happy.
I wish the last one was a lime hawk-moth - mind you it would mean that my hand would be the size of a tennis raquet!!!

| | | Re: Moth ID help - again Ooops sorry Reefbirder, hic!
Of course it is Angle shades, silly me!
I do get Lime hawks here though.
I'm just finishing the other half of the bottle of apple wine and it is lovely! hic!
I grow Loganberries and have 4 gallons on the go at the moment!
I made a gallon of Morellow cherry and by God it blew your head off!!!
Naturegirl, hic
