| | | More moths for Id required please Hello,
I have just got my new skinner trap and am really overwhelmed by what I go tlast night. Most of the "catch" I could identify (eventually) but a couple I really struggled on:
1)
I think this is Scopariinae - poss Eudonia mercurella
2)
Is this a red-line quaker
3)
And is this a Lunar underwing? I get a lot of these in and they seem to be highly variable as to colour - so not sure if this is one or something else.
The feathered Thorn and Green-brindled cresent that as came to my trap were most welcome - but definitely much easier to identify
Thanks

Steve, for the Bee Moth ID - Is it unusual for moths to fly outside of their usual season? I am a keen birder and am used to find birds in unusual places at unusual times, maybe the heat wave had an effect.
Metalmoth, for the confirmation on the quaker and the Beaded Chestnut, I have had a good look at UK moths and the test in my Waring and Townsend and it all matches - white leading edges with black marks etc.
And everybody else.
The more I ask the more I learn (I think - lol)

Yes it is late for Bee Moth. I caught this a couple of nights ago (Oct 3rd) caused a bit of head scratching, then I realised it was Ingrailed Clay! Thought they'd gone a while back. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
